Henrich Maschinenfabrik
At wire Düsseldorf, Germanys Henrich Maschinenfabrik GmbH presented a newly developed rod breakdown machine of modular construction that is the SHM Series. The machine employs efficient unit construction principle of rod breakdown technology and, because of its modular design, can be configured in highly cost-effective terms to suit both a users particular wire drawing requirements and defined drawn-wire quality and finishes. The SHM offers a new dimension with respect to flexibility in production and its substantial energy-saving potential. Henrichs designers, building upon the companys four decades of experience, focused on substantially reducing maintenance and repair efforts with the new rod breakdown equipment.

Specifically, it offers: dies placed low for operating ease and fully flooded with drawing lubricant, including additional pressure cleaning; blocks immersed in drawing lubricant (about one third) to reduce drive power required and prevent turbulence from developing; wire elongation decreased from 41% to 26%, or constant elongation of 26% or 33% per draft; a straightline wire entry into the die; individual drives for each module for power savings of 10 - 15% over gearbox-equipped models; a quick-changing system for dies; and more.
